Privacy policy
Loker is a local-first personal finance app for Android. The short version: your data stays on your device, there is no Loker account, and we run no server that could receive it.
We do not operate a backend. Your transactions, budgets, and goals are never transmitted to us, because there is nowhere for them to be transmitted to.
01What we collect
Nothing. Loker has no account system and no analytics. We do not collect your name, email, phone number, device identifiers, or financial data. We have no way to associate the app with you, and we receive no usage telemetry by default.
02Where your data lives
All of your data is stored in an on-device SQLite database on your phone. It is created and read entirely locally. It stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- Transactions — stored locally, never uploaded.
- Budgets & goals — computed and stored on-device.
- App settings — kept in local app storage.
03Optional encrypted backup
Backup is off by default. If you enable it, Loker writes an encrypted snapshot of your database to your own Google Drive so you can restore after switching phones. The data is encrypted on your device before it leaves, and the key never leaves your device — neither Loker nor Google can read the contents. You can disable backup and delete the snapshot at any time.
04Notification access
To turn payment alerts into transactions automatically, Loker can read incoming notifications — with your explicit permission. This parsing happens entirely on-device. Notification contents are used only to create local transaction records and are never sent anywhere. You can revoke this permission in Android settings at any time; the feature is optional.
05Optional AI (bring your own key)
AI features are off unless you set them up. They are bring-your-own-key (BYOK): you supply an API key for a provider of your choice, and requests go directly from your device to that provider under their terms — not through Loker. If you never add a key, no data is sent to any AI service.
06Security on your device
You can lock Loker behind your device biometrics (fingerprint or face) so your finances stay sealed even when your phone is unlocked. Because data is local, its security also depends on your device's own protections — a screen lock and up-to-date OS are recommended.
07Permissions Loker may request
- Notification access — optional; for on-device payment capture.
- Biometric / device lock — optional; to gate access to the app.
- Google Drive (your account) — optional; only if you enable encrypted backup.
- Internet — used only for backup to your Drive and BYOK AI requests you initiate. With both off, Loker functions fully offline.
08Deleting your data
Your data is yours to remove. Clear it from within the app, or uninstall Loker to delete the local database from your device. If you used encrypted backup, delete the snapshot from your Google Drive to remove that copy as well.
09Open source
Loker is open source, so you don't have to take this policy on faith — you can read exactly how data is handled. Review the source on GitHub.
